Yours, Mine and Ours 1968 111 R 3.0 out of 5 ducks
After a very slow-moving romance, widower Frank has 10 kids, and marries widow Helen who has 8 kids of her own, landing us with 20 people together in a new family. After the wedding, Helen and Frank are getting ready to leave for their honeymoon, but one sick kid sets her off in a frantic way, so they postpone the trip. They find a fixer-upper house for the 20 of them (it has four bathrooms), and they moved in -- complete with a color-letter-number code to assign bedrooms and bathrooms, assembly-lines to make sandwiches for school lunches, and the like. After young Peter is told by his nun teacher he can't use his step-father's last name at school, the two parents discuss cross-adopting the kids to legally make it all formal for the kids, too. At Christmas, Helen gives him what she thinks he really wants -- to go back out to sea (they're a Navy family), and she gets a call from her doctor -- she's pregnant for the ninth time. Frank finds out and comes home, and the baby is born. At the adoption, Frank's kids tell the court they have decided to adopt Helen as their mother, for life. Oldest son of Frank, Mike, leaves for Camp Pendleton (he joined the Marines, much to his dad's dismay). Moving film reel
