Conrad and Sally Walden are home with the sleeping babysitter, Mrs. Kwan, and the goldfish. (This is after mom comes home from work at 9am when the sitter quits, and the sleazy neighbor Laurence swings by, again talks to the kid's mom about sending Conrad to military boarding school (he is dating mom, and can't stand Conrad). They're bored, it's raining outside, but Conrad hears a who... oops, wrong story; he hears a sound, and he and Sally go to find the Cat. Once they warm up to the idea of Cat, sign his contract about assuring them that nothing bad will happen, they spend the day flirting with the antics of Thing 1 and Thing 2, making purple messes, and exposing Laurence as a fraud (he's a fat, unemployed guy, not a successful salesman). The house does manage to get cleaned up in time for the dinner party for mom's real estate work gathering, mom sees Laurence as a sleaze, and Conrad and Sally learn to like one another. Sally also gets rid of her lime green Palm Pilot where she's initially making To Do lists and notes to tattle on Conrad. |
