The Karate Kid, Part II 1986 113 PG 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Miyagi and Daniel take a trip to Okinawa, Japan to visit Miyagi's dying father. Once there, dad dies, Miyagi cries. Wandering around, Miyagi finds he has feelings for an old flame, Yukie. Chozen (Sato's nephew) calls Daniel's making fun of him to break six pieces of ice, with Miyagi and Sato covering their young counterpart's $600 bet (Daniel breaks the ice); the two old guys still have bad blood between them. Old feud to settle, Miyagi tells Sato he will fight him at midnight (so Sato can restore his honor), with the condition the title to the village's land is given to the people regardless; Sato agrees. Daniel and Kumiko make goo-goo eyes over rice tea, kiss, but a wind storm upturns life in the village. Sato is trapped in a building collapse, Miyagi saves him by karate-chopping the wood beam in half. Daniel stays outside to rescue a girl on a pole, and Sato tells nephew Chozen to help him; he can't do it; Sato dishonors Chozen. In the morning, Sato brings them the deed to the village and offers to help rebuild the village; the fight is off. Daniel asks Sato to let them have their dance in the castle, where it belongs; Sato says yes. They dance, lots of smiles, until Chozen leaps into the place and puts a knife to Kumiko's throat, challenging Daniel to fight to the death. They fight, and the crowd makes noise with their drum-toys as Daniel beats Chozen, but doesn't kill him. Daniel returns to Kumiko, they hug, and Miyagi smiles. Moving film reel
