Fahrenheit 451 1966 112 NR 3.0 out of 5 ducks
Fireman Guy is part of the fire brigade. Of course, in this era, the fire brigade to start fires, as part of their duty to destroy books, versus putting out fires. (451 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature at which paper burns.) Those who keep books are generally ratted out by informants. Most of the folks in society, like Linda (Guy's wife) are drugged through their giant TV screens (never saw that one coming) into being complacent sorts. Guy falls for a book-rebel, Clarissa, and begins reading. Well, that really messes with things at work, and Guy can no longer climb and descend the fire pole at the station. The people with the books eventually win out and we close with people walking about, reciting books. (Which varies from the actual novel, of course, where the city blows up.) Moving film reel
