Kate & Leopold 2001 118 PG 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Kate and Charlie, her actor brother, live in New York in present time. Kate's ex-, Stuart, lives above them. Stuart is wandering about, and stumbles by a place near the Brooklyn Bridge where there's a gap in time, and you can step back in time, literally. He ends up stepping back to 1876, looks around, snaps some pictures, and so forth. Still in 1876, Leopold sees this strange man with a strange machine, and decides to follow the guy, and both men end up back in present time. Needless to say, Leopold is lost in New York in 2001. Leopold meets Charlie, who helps him, thinking Leopold is one of those character actors that doesn't break character as they prepare for a new role. (Side note: Leopold invented elevators; now that he's in 2001, they stop working.) Kate meets Leopold by accident, thinks he's odd but polite, but she thinks Stuart is insane for his 1876 time warp story. Kate and Leopold spend more time together, Stuart escapes the mental hospital and tells Leopold he needs to go back to 1876 (the elevators and such), but Leopold has fallen in love with Kate. Stuart's pictures are finally developed, and Charlie sees 'em and believes Stuart; he also sees Kate in the back-ground (in 1876), and no surprise, Kate returns to 1876 to be with Leopold.
