Kinsey 2004 118 R 3.0 out of 5 ducks
Albert Kinsey is a zoologist teaching at the University of Indiana. He meets and marries Clara (and both being virgins at marriage, were a bit clueless.) He jumps from writing and teaching about gall wasps to the study of human sexuality (after it was clear there was a demand for both a course at UI, and the knowledge to be shared with American at large with tons of students coming to him for help and advice about sex and related questions). He and a team of three others (Clyde, Wardell and Paul) delve into interviewing tens of thousands of men to write "Sexual Behavior in the Human Male" in 1948. (The work was inspired by a desire to explore sex from a scientific view-point.) The ongoing research eventually costs him his project sponsor, and no one -- not even the college reaping the benefit of surplus cash due to the increases in enrollment -- will help him fund research after his book on women is not nearly as well received (the book is taken by some to attack basic values of womanhood and motherhood). His health begins to decline at the same time, although to the end, he perseveres in his research and in assuring Clara of his love for her (despite the topic of "love" not entering into the interview data he gave Clyde).
