Good Night, and Good Luck 2005 93 PG 4.0 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Set in 1953-54 during the early days of television journalism and Senator McCarthy's hunt for alleged Communists in America, we have newsman Edward R. Murrow on a determined course to expose McCarthy's tactics as a witch-hunt, beginning with reporting the dismissal of an Air Force lieutenant with no more evidence at this trial than a sealed envelope. The story gets noticed, and things turn to an all-out dedication to bring down McCarthy, even if it means hurting their broadcasting company (CBS). The Air Force reinstates the lieutenant, and the very public feud between the senator and the newsman escalates to McCarthy claiming even Murrow is a Communist. The tenacity of Murrow and his team bears true, and the Senate begins to investigate McCarthy himself and his methods, which manage to finally bring an end to McCathy's pinko-Commie hunt in the United States. We close with Murrow addressing a crowd in 1958 at a dinner event honoring him, and he offers his perspective about TV having the power to educate and bring people if properly used, but if not, the effects are nearly as problematic.
