The Negotiator 1998 139 R 3.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Danny is a negotiator with the Chicago PD. Heís set up by some corrupt cops to take the fall for stealing $2 million from the pension fund. Danny reacts after heís accused of killing his partner, Nate, by taking some people hostage at the Internal Affairs office. Niebaum (one of the hostages and an IA inspector) has been recording some of the bad cops and got in on their deal. Danny only wants to talk to Chris Sabian, a fellow negotiator. The bad cops (Argento, Hellman and Allen) go in and kill Niebaum intentionally to keep him from talking as they try to kill Danny. Sabian helps Danny get out of the building when the FBI takes over and orders a full breach. The two of them head over to Niebaumís house to look for evidence of Dannyís innocence. The 3 bad cops follow them, as does Commander Frost (also of the Chicago PD). Since Danny wasnít able to find any evidence, heís SOL. Sabian shoots Danny and tells Frost to cut him part of the deal. Frost agrees to it, names the others involved and admits to setting Danny up. Sabian however had his police radio on and everyone heard Frostís admission. Once Frost realizes heís done for he tries to kill himself but doesnít quite manage. Danny is carted off to the hospital, holding his wifeís hand and his badge. Moving film reel
