Roman Holiday 1953 118 App. 3.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Princess Ann is tired of the uptight, busy life she leads. One night in Rome she sneaks out, and is found by Joe, a not-so-well-off journalist who doesn't realize who she is. He takes her back to his apartment ("is this the elevator?") to sleep, and the next morning, he realizes who she is when the papers announce Princess Ann's "mysterious illness". (The truth is they have no idea what happened to her and want to stave off the media's attention). Joe and his photographer friend, Irving, take the Princess on a day around the city, going along with her story of being "Anya". Although Joe starts out with the intention of getting a big insider's scoop, he ends up falling for her in the process, and decides not to publish his story. In the end, the Princess, having returned home, greets the Roman press, and Joe and Irving show up, in effect letting her know who they really were. A mutual glance of understanding is shared, and Irving gives her the pictures that he secretly took of her. Moving film reel
