Secret Window 2004 106 PG-13 3.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Mort is an author who caught his wife cheating on him, and moved to a cabin in a small town in upstate New York. They file for divorce, but Mort refuses to sign the papers to officially end the marriage to Amy. (She's shacked up with Ted, the guy they split up over.) John shows up at his door and says Mort stole his story, Secret Window (where a guy finds his wife cheating, and buries her in the garden). Mort tells John he wrote the story two years before John did. Mort hires an ex-cop to protect him after Mort's dog is killed. John agrees to leave Mort alone if Mort can prove he wrote the story first, and Mort gets a copy of the magazine his story was in -- but the story is ripped out. Tom, a local, sees John and Mort talking one day, and the cop goes to Tom to ask about it, but Tom denies seeing John. Tom and the cop are killed, and John tells Mort he's got two bodies to hide (John killed 'em with Mort's tools); Mort hides them. It seems John doesn't exist -- just a figment of Mort's imagination. Amy shows up to get Mort to sign the divorce papers, Ted follows her; Mort kills them both and buries them in the yard. (John kept saying his story's ending needed to be fixed.) The local sheriff tells Mort he knows he killed them (but can't prove it). Mort is eating corn, which is growing outside in Amy's garden you can see from the secret window. Moving film reel
