Facing the Giants 2006 111 PG 0.0 out of 5 ducks
In six years of coaching, Grant has never led his high school team to a winning season. He learns he and wife Brooke face infertility, Grant discovers that a group of fathers are secretly organizing to have him dismissed as head coach. The family's car is also breaking down often, the house is falling apart, and overall, Grant is feeling a great deal of despair, and he cries out in desperation for God to lead him. He gets a message from an expected visitor, which he decides is a messenger of God, he turns into an outspoken Christian, demanding his team give their all, win or lose, for the glory of God. They start winning, the team has a few spontaneous prayer and forgiveness sessions on the field, including one of the lead players apologizing to his father for not respecting dad's authority and opinions. The new kid (soccer player, but the team lacks a soccer team), begins to kick well, making his wheelchair-bound dad proud. The team steals Grant's car and replaces it with a brand new Ford pickup as thanks from the team; the repentant son and father watch from the treeline as Grant drives away all teary-eyed. They lose to Princeton Heights, but then that team is disqualified and Grant's team advances to state championships. The game comes down to a final kick, the backup soccer kid does it (as dad stands from his wheelchair) and they win the state title for the first time ever. Grant delivers a post-game pro-God pep talk before the team prays in thanks. Grant goes home to learn Brooke is finally pregnant; two years later, we see Grant playing with their son, and Brooke is pregnant again, walking past a second state title trophy and a note on the wall that all things are possible with God.
