Night at the Museum 2006 108 PG 3.0 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Divorced dad Larry wanders from job to job and apartment to apartment often, to the point his ex-wife feels their son Nick would be better off not spending visits with Larry until he settles into a job and home. Motivated like never before, Larry gets a job at the museum as the night guard, replacing Cecil, Gus and Reginald (who are being let go to save the museum money; the museum is losing lots of money). They tell Larry not to let anything in or out, give him a tattered set of instructions, and leave. Larry goofs off, but is startled to learn everything in the museum comes to life at night. Teddy Roosevelt befriends Larry, gives him a few pointers, and explains it's the tabled in the King Tut exhibit that arrived in 1952 that brings life to the creatures. The second night, Larry is better prepared, but not for the deceit of the three soon-to-be-fired/retired guards, who are set on running Larry out of the job to save themselves (and steal the tablet; it brings a young new life to whomever, including the aging three). Larry is also enchanted with Rebecca, the docent writing her dissertation on Sacajawea. Larry has Nick come to work with him, they see it all come to life (after discovering the three starting to steal the tablet), and Larry finally shows leadership skills in getting al the museum residents to work together to run the guards out. The place is trashed, and in the morning Larry is fired -- until the news starts carrying reports of dinosaur tracks and cavemen partying on the museum roof. Attendance shoots up, the museum manager keeps Larry as night guard, Rebecca apologizes to Larry for not believing him telling her she could meet Sacajawea for an interview, and all's well with Nick -- who finally is proud to bring his dad to school for career day.
