The Hills Have Eyes II 2007 89 R 2.0 out of 5 ducks
Two years after the family disappeared into the kills in The Hills Have Eyes, scientists are doing work in the hills of Sector 16, the fictional Army grounds of 1950s era atomic bomb testing. A group of ill-trained National Guard trainees are tasked with dropping off a part for the scientists as they return to base, but upon arrival find everyone is missing. The group's leader leaves to at camp and takes the other six and himself into the hills, where mutant-esque folks live in the mountain's old mine shafts (and occasionally impregnate women they capture to continue their people). One by one, the Guards are killed off, a combination of accidents or mutant gobblings. We end up with just Napoleon, Amber and Missy, who manage to apparently kill the daddy mutant (the one who had knocked his son out of the way of raping and typing up Missy, only to do it himself). The three finally stumble out of the mine shaft into daylight, where we see their shapes from a thermal-imaging laptop, then the lid slams down -- and it's from a mutant's fist (and a nice seque1 setup for a third film in this remake sequel). In end notes, we're told the Army officially lists the dead as absent without leave, and their deaths were not told to their families, and the Army still denies Sector 16 exists. Moving film reel
