Evening 2007 117 PG-13 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Ann is in her late 80s or so, and is effectively laying in her deathbed. She begins having dreams and vision, the utterances of which bring her daughters Constance (the content mother and wife) and Nina (the single gal who just revealed she's two months pregnant) into wondering who Harris and Buddy are that mom is speaking of during a few lucid moments. The film jumps between today and 50 years before, when Ann was a young girl, helping her pal Lila get ready to marry Carl. (Both girls had a thing for Harris, as did most girls; Lila's brother Buddy had a thing for Ann.) Ann visits these memories with us along to see it, watching the wedding, reception, the generally drunk Buddy try to ask Ann to be his girl, but she declines, and ends up spending the night with Harris; meanwhile Buddy is walking along the dark road at night, and is hit by a hit-and-run driver; departing wedding guests find Buddy, but by morning he's dead. Lila is called to the house by Ann's nurse, and she visits, and the two talk a bit, then Lila leaves back for home. A few years pass (in the 50 year old dream), and Harris is married with a young son, also Buddy, and Ann has a daughter (possibly that of Harris', but Ann is married now with the younger Nina also around). Present day, Nina finally tells her boyfriend of the moment she's pregnant, he seems happy about it, the nurse tells Constance and Nina to go upstairs, and Ann has died. Moving film reel
