The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters 2007 79 PG-13 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Documentary. In 1982, Billy Mitchell set a Donkey Kong high score record of 874,300 that stood for almost 25 years. While unemployed, OCD-esque Steve Wiebe sits in his garage, improving his skills until he can beat the standing record. He sends a videotape of the play, but it's not accepted by Twin Galaxies (the Donkey Kong maker and formal scorekeepers). Things go back and forth, and Steve finally plays a game in public, getting a score of 985,600. In response -- while everyone is still at the Funspot arcade -- Billy sends his right-hand guy a videotape of him scoring 1,047,200, which promptly replaced Steve's newly set all-time high score; Twin Galaxies Walter Day accepts the new score. The Guinness World Records people want to include the scores in the 2007 edition, a play-off occurred in Hollywood, Florida (Billy's hometown), though the film doesn't show him competing. Steve doesn't score enough to beat the videotape score, and that goes into the books, but Walter has told Steve he can send in any score videotape for review and acceptance now, something of vindication. Steve gets 1,049,100 in his garage and becomes the new record holder, roll credits. (Since then, Billy has re-claimed the top spot with a score of 1,050,200). Moving film reel
