Goal II: Living the Dream 2007 115 NR 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Part 2 of the Goal! trilogy. Santiago has gotten both better at his skill of playing soccer and has become more widely recognized as a strong player as part of Newcastle United team, Santiago gets a big break when he's transferred to the Real Madrid soccer club. He and his wife move to Madrid (she a bit reluctantly), and he springs for a big place for them to call home. There's a number of elements (his estranged mother, his half-brother when his mom left dad and since remarried and had a son, 12 or so now), and strife with the wife when he's held cities apart to stay with the team at coach's orders, and he's then injured. It doesn't help that the wife is shown a photo of another woman killing on Santiago, leading her to suspect he's cheating and that's the real reason he didn't come home as promised. In the end, he recovers from his ankle injury, plays in the big game and scores the winning goal to advance Real Madrid one step closer to the trilogy sequel, ending with "To be continued..." (Of course, he and the wife reconcile when he apologies and assures her nothing happened, he reconciles with his long-lost mother and makes nice with his half-brother, even after the kid stole and wrecked his car.)
