Ending
Erin is an unemployed single mother who's having piss-poor luck finding a job. She was involved in a car accident, and even loses that lawsuit. Pissed at losing, she badgers her attorney, Ed, into giving her a job at his office to make up for losing her case. Her clothes are crap and her manners poor, but she begins to get attention, and finally respect (once she polishes the manners and gets a new outfit or two) after she starts looking into a case involving the local gas and electric company (PG&E) trying to buy up land that they contaminated by illegally dumping chemicals... and that are now poisoning the town's folks. All this ends up putting Ed's tiny little law firm into the middle of one of the largest class-action lawsuits (the town's people are the complainants) against PG&E. Unlike Erin's case, Ed wins this one, and receives an award of $333 million for the people of the town (Southern California's town of Hinkley). Ed also kicks down $2 million to Erin for her efforts in the case. Moving film reel
