Everybody Wants to Be Italian 2008 105 R 3.0 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Boston. Jake Bianski runs a fish market surrounded by Italians. He's preparing for his anniversary with Isabella, whom we soon find dumped Jake eight years ago, and is now married with three kids. He still tells folks he's dating her, convinced it's not really over. His two fish market employees encounter Marisa, a vet, and invite her to an Italian singles mixer; she's not Italian, but goes anyway, and thinks he's cute; she's interested. On their first date, to avoid lies, he tells her he's got a girlfriend -- and tells her she's not a *real* doctor, she's just a vet; he still is interested in her though, and insists they can be just friends. As that runs its course, Jake comes around to thinking this friendship may be better than his (imagined) relationship with Isabella, and tells Isabella it's over. He and Marisa seem to get a shade more than friends (oh, she's seeing Michael, by the by, but he's not great in bed). Isabella has a marital crisis and goes running into Jake's arms, which re-open to her, and they kiss in front of Marisa. He runs after her (badly; she's a runner, he's not), and in a drunken state, he tells her he's Polish, not Italian. Marisa ends up leaving on a "vets without borders" trip to Italy. He goes after her, again with his grand gestures (a la the anniversary preparations) and gets a room next to hers at a local hotel, where Michael opens the door. Jake crashes their dinner with flowers and a marriage proposal, then pisses off Michael by asking if he's the guy who can't satisfy her in bed; Michael beats him up, but Jake gets the girl. On the beach, he asks her what her marriage answer was before he passed out after the fight, and she said she'll race him to the rocks for it, but they end up hugging. Moving film reel
