Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009 153 PG 3.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Year six of Harry's enrollment at Hogwarts. Dumbledore is helping prepare the not-so-young lad for his inevitable battle with Voldemort. Dumbledore knows Slughorn has useful skills in this arena, knowing he holds certain details that will help Harry in the Voldemort battle; Snape is named teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts. Harry's reading through a book of potions belonging to the Half-Blood prince, along with notes in the margin offering handy tips to improve on his own portions, even though the notes run contrary to the book's potions. Stuff happens, Harry seems to fancy Ginny (Ron's sister), though the presence of her boyfriend Dean is a bit of a challenge to him. Ron finds himself the target of Lavender's affections, stirring some jealousy in Hermione, but after he downs a potion and ends up in hospital, Lavender is history and Hermione is holding his hand. The trio encourages Harry to ditch the Half-Blood prince's book; Ginny has Harry close his eyes, hides the book and kisses him. Harry finds Snape and Dumbledore at the top of Astronomy Tower, a bit of fighting off corpses, and Dumbledore falls from the tower to his death. Harry tries to attack Snape, but he's unfazed, commenting Harry can't be too effective using the spells from the book -- as it's his book (Snape is the prince). Harry goes to Dumbledore's body, he waves off a chance to talk about things with McGonagall, tells his friends that Snape is to blame, and he plans to pursue the other horcruxes (a ripped away part of the soul due to an evil act, with that part contained in a meaningful object)... thinking Voldemort created not one, but seven, and Harry seeks to destroy them all to destroy Voldemort, and Harry, Hermione and Ron set out on the quest. Harry watches the phoenix Fawkes fly over Hogwarts, and remarks how he never before realized how beautiful a place the school is, as the other two approach from either side. Moving film reel
