Ending
Three bodies float up near a nuclear facility about the same time as police detective Tom picks up his activist daughter Emma from a train station, and after chatting randomly about things like her boyfriend, she's shot twice and killed after someone yells their last name. Certain the killers meant to kill Tom, and Tom starts by chatting with the boyfriend, who tells him the folks from the nuclear facility (Norwood) are watching Tom. At Norwood, they're doing damage control about the three people who drown, and Emma was killed in connection to the break-in. Tom searches Emma's apartment, and her personal Geiger counter reveals traces of radiation in the lock of her hair he saved from the morgue. Tom's visit to Norwood is not helpful, nor is their problem-fixer guy Jedburgh. The boyfriend tells Tom that Emma helped the three break-in, and his suspicions that Norwood has a policy of killing those who trespass. An activist pal Melissa talks to Tom and is nearly killed before Tom kills the driver; Tom also finds the boyfriend has been killed. Melissa hands over a DVD Emma made for her dad, telling of her view she'll be killed soon, and what's going on at Norwood. Tom confronts a senator whom Emma confided in, and Tom tells him to choose a side before the Norwood conspiracy gets to the media. Tom is sick (also radiation poisoning, a popular one), is kidnapped, taken to Norwood, escapes, and goes back home. Tom gets his gun, goes to Norwood boss man Bennett's place, finding and killing Emma's killer before Bennett shoots Tom. Tom manages to make Bennett drink the radioactive milk they left for Emma to die from, then shoots him in the face. Jedburgh shoots and kills the senator and his two advisers, then gives a young cop a clear shot to let himself be killed. Tom is in hospital, dying from the gunshot wound and radiation poisoning. We close with father and daughter (or the spirits of them) walking out of the hospital toward a bright light. Thomas Craven, a single father, has been a Boston homicide detective for many years. His 24-year-old daughter Emma, his only child, is killed on the front steps of his home. At first it appears that Craven was the intended target. He soon uncovers evidence that leads him to think differently, and decides to pursue the information at all costs. He learns his daughter led a secret life that led to her murder. He quickly finds himself confronted with a shadowy world of corporate collusion with government-sanctioned murder. In the process he collides with a secret government operative, Darius Jedburgh, whose job is to clean up and hide any remaining evidence. Craven's singleness of purpose in finding answers about Emma's death becomes a transforming experience that changes his life. Moving film reel
