Ending
A bunch of intertwined stores...

  • Florist/owner Reed proposes to girlfriend Morley, and is on the top of the world. His best friend...
  • School teacher Julia wakes up to her doctor boyfriend Harrison, who has to be out of town for Valentine's Day. Reed suggests she go to surprise him at his conference.
  • Holden and Army Cptn. Kate meet on her flight home; she traveling 14 hours home for a one night visit; Holden is impressed.
  • Elementary school kid Edison gives Reed about $13 to deliver a $55 boquet and card to his Valentine at school during recess; Reed is feeling generous on the holiday and marriage proposal, and accepts the money for the underpaid delivery; Edison is in Julia's class.
  • Harrison comes into the shop to deliver flowers to Julia... and his happily-married wife, Pamela. Reed is uncomfortable knowing this. His best pal Alphonso tells him he has to tell Julia about Harrison.
  • 35-year-old football player Sean goes free agent, and is considering quitting the game;
  • Sports reporter Kelvin is sent to the streets to interview people abuot the holiday; he'd rather interview... anyone in sports.
  • Edison's babysitter Grace decides she wants to go all the way with boyfriend Alex (first time for both of them), but her mom comes home early and all bets are off.
  • Liz wakes up with Jason, and rushes off; her phone ringing is her side gig, a phone sex operator; he asks her out for Valentine's Day dinner, she bails to answer yet another call, he learns of this (she's paying off $100,000 in student loans), and comes to terms with accepting her for good AND bad after talking to...
  • Edgar, married to Estelle for 51 years, after he learned he must accept his wife after she confesses to a brief affair decades ago. This came on the heels of them talking to Edison's sitter as she realized she's not ready to sleep with her beau; he settles for making out.
  • Willy and Felicia, Grace's peers, are annoyingly lovey-dovey, but they're in high school, and we just accept it.

Morley turns Reed down on his proposal; he tells Julia about Harrison's being married, and she outs him as he's at brunch with his wife (she doesn't really say it clearly, but the wife figures it out and we see Harrison alone). Alphonso gets rear-ended by Sean as he considers his career, damaging the flower delivery van and causing Edison's delivery to be skipped. Edison calls Reed on it, who gives him the super-nice flowers for his girl, and Edison gives them to his teacher, Julia, who tells him he needs to set his sights for a girl whom he shares interests, like his classmate who likes him; he gives them to her. Edgar forgives his wife, Jason accept Liz' phone work, Sean confesses he's gay, and going to keep playing football, and Kelvin supports the decision on his on-air segment. Holden gives up his car so Kate can get home to her special someone: Edison. Holden gets home, and he's Sean's significant half. Morley is gone, but Reed and Julia realize their best friendship can lead to more, and they kiss.
