Convicted crook Reggie is paroled to San Francisco cop Jack for 48 hours to help track down escaped crooks Albert and Billy gun down two cops; Reggie was once partners with Albert and Billy. Reggie has a half million dollars in the truck on his car, which has been sitting in a parking garage since he was convicted. Albert and Billy are after the money, so the two kidnap Rosalie, the girlfriend of their former partner Luther. Luther is shot taking the money to the two as paying ransom (they stole a Muni bus), and Jack is getting ready to take Reggie back to prison (after Jack gets Reggie's car out of impound to drive Reggie back). Jack suggests they go to Chinatown to track down Billy, but Reggie's cool with not going, until Jack reminds him that this does post-pone his return to prison; they head off to Chinatown. The arrive, Reggie ends up shooting Billy, and Jack tracks down and shoots Albert, recovering the money. Reggie lets Jack drive them to the prison for the last six months of his sentence, and puts Reggie's money -- all of it -- all back into Reggie's car to wait for him when he gets out. Jack doesn't want any of the money, but he'll let Reggie buy him a car when he gets out -- but if Reggie ever crosses the line again, he'll bust him. Moving film reel
