Ending
Tom Welles, private eye, is hired by a wealthy widow, Mrs. Christian, after her well-known hubby dies. It seems she found an 8mm snuff film in a safe, and desperately wants to know that it's not real. Welles takes the case, he works to trace the girl, Mary Ann, and finds her mom, Janet, and ends up in the underworld of people making these films with the fatal ending. In the process, Tom gets a bit obsessed with the case, but gets to the bottom of it: The Christian's lawyer was hired by dead hubby to have the film made, but kept most of the $1 million Christian paid for the movie, for himself (lawyers, I tell ya). The pornographers kill him, and once Tom knows who did what, he kills them off, one by one, encouraged to do so by Mary Ann's mom, Janet, and yes, it's real. Eddie said they killed her, and buried her in the woods. Mrs. Christian commits suicide after hearing that the film is real, and leaves two envelopes: one for Tom's payment, the other for Janet, with money and a note hoping for forgiveness. Tom is able to patch up the rift between he and his wife, and goes back to living a normal life. He gets a note from Janet's mom thanking him, and noting they're the only two who cared about Mary Ann. Moving film reel
