So, you wanna spoil movies? Swell -- we want to help you complete your
mission, Luke Skywalker, and will help finance your treachery. Details
are broken down by flavor, er, category:
Fame and fortune. Well, maybe. On each movie you
spoil, you can either choose to have your name shown as being the
spoiler person, or... not. But if you go with "not", your
name or a number associated with you will be hidden on the page (in
white text, under the moving movie reel).
Free t-shirt. Or if you're really messy or really
good, more. You get to choose your shirt style and color, but I would
recommend the red ringer, since it looks pretty damn good. You will
get your shirt within about a week of signing on and telling me what
shirt style/color/size you want me to give you.
To choose the available shirt styles, colors and styles, review
them here.
To get a peek of what the shirt looks like, check
it out! (If the text isn't clear, here it is all
zoomed up like.)
Free movies. We will reimburse you for the actual
cost of admission for each movie you see in the theatres. If you figure
you'd see the movie anyway, then you're saving your hard-earned cash
for moon pies and comic books. For those who become "regulars"
(by choice or circumstance), we'd be happy to discuss an advance of
cash so you don't have to involve any of your own cash -- but that's
a down the road thing once you know you enjoy doing this sort of thing,
and we know we enjoy your summaries.
The option for at-home movies. If you really love
movies, we can chat about setting you up with a Netflix subscription
(or if you've got one, reimbursement for same). Thus, you can bounce
out to the Netflix web site, pick any old movie you want, and spoil
them at your leisure. A couple of details I ask if you're thinking of
helping in this area:
Most of the movies should be stuff to help expand what we've spoiled.
If you TOTALLY have to see something we've already spoiled, that's
cool, but 80-90% of the stuff you choose should be movies that are
not already spoiled.
Write up the movies you've spoiled within a few days of returning
them to Netflix. (If you need a solid number, let's say "a
few days" is two days.)
(Netflix is a DVD-by-mail service where you have an account, where
you can choose movies to be sent to you to watch. You can have three
at home at any time, and as you return one, they will send you the
next one in your list. If you need more information on how this works,
yell, but it's freakin' cool, yo.)
Other Schwag for the Netflix. Beyond us paying for
your Netflix subscription, you may get yourself other goodies and freebies
based on how much stuff you write up and whatever else. This is pretty
much totally my call, but if I like you and the write-ups you do, I
can be a bit of a plush push over.
What's in it for me?
Time. You're saving me roughly two hours for every
movie you see instead of me.
Growth. The collection of spoilers get bigger with
the more people participating. And my movie spoiler site is already
the biggest on the internet (but invite anyone to find one bigger
-- we can't find any), and with your help, it'll get even bigger.
(The next two largest sites I've found, combined, are just a little
smaller than our site.)
What do you have to do?
This part's easy -- honest Injun.
Watch the Movie. Duh. Since I *am* on a budget,
I'm reimbursing you for one person to spoil each film. To see what
needs to be spoiled and what's available, bookmark the NEW
FILM page. If it's a white box for the title, it's up
for grabs.
Write up the Movie's Ending. Browse through the
site to get a feel for the look and style of endings. hat we're basically
looking for is an ending summary that has all of these details:
A quick summary of the plot (you can usually get this from IMDB
or Yahoo! Movies
-- but IMDB is much better).
Refer to people by their character names (not the actor names).
You can also get this from IMDB.
Any major plot points that are important.
How it ends (again, duh)
Keep it short as you can. The object of
the game is to deliver a 90+ minute movie in a 2 minute summary. In
other words, the spoiler should be able to show up on the web page
without someone having to use the scroll bar.
The t-shirt (if you choose
the red ringer... check out Zazzle for the full list of styles...)
